Western Kenyan leaders are putting pressure on ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula to back ODM leader Raila Odinga in his presidential bid next year.

The leaders, led by Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamong, warned that their tough stance could backfire because the process to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta is already taking shape, with Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto vying for the top spot.

Raila, according to Ojamong, deserves to lead Kenya because of his leadership struggles.

According to him, Raila stands out in terms of merit, thus there is no need for Western Kenya leaders to waste time with their harsh stance, which could cost them politically.

He encouraged them to rally behind Raila in building the next administration by uniting all western Kenyan leaders.
Trans Nzoia County speaker Joshua Werunga and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, who were also there, reiterated his thoughts.
