Five people were killed and five others were critically injured in an accident at Londiani on the Kericho-Nakuru route.
A 14-seater matatu rolled multiple times before landing in a ditch after a tyre ruptured in the accident on Sunday, August 29, 2020.
“A tyre burst caused the accident, with the matatu going off the road and rolling before landing in a ditch,” said Kipkelion East Sub County Police Commander Mr. Joseph Mutungi.
The five critically injured were taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital, while those with minor injuries were treated and released from Londiani Sub County Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary at Kericho County Referral Hospital, while the matatu’s wreckage was transported to Londiani Police Station.
