In Summary: Homa Bay County MCAs are on the spot after a contractor allegedly sponsored their trip to Mombasa before securing a construction tender.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned 29 members of the Homa Bay County Assembly for the second time over alleged public monies abuse.
The County Assembly Speaker and other House officials have also been asked to give statements in connection with the commission’s probe into the MCAs trip to Mombasa last year.
The commission has called the MCAs to record statements as part of the ongoing inquiry into the September 2021 trip to Mombasa, according to a letter signed by E.Otiko of the EACC and written to the assembly clerk.
From January 17, 2022, through January 31, 2022, the MCAs have been summoned to appear before the anti-graft commission for an investigative interview.
EACC is investigating a contract between the County Assembly Service Board and a construction company that was awarded a tender for the construction of the proposed assembly offices.
Sleuths believe the contract award is linked to the Mombasa trip that took place between September 8 and September 12, 2021.
