5000m Finals: Cheptegei Wins Gold For Uganda

Joshua Cheptegei won the men’s 5000m finals on Friday afternoon, earning Uganda’s second gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

With 500 meters to go, Cheptegei upped his pace to cross the finish line in 12:58.15, while Mohammed Ahmed of Canada took silver in 12:58.61.

Paul Chelimo of the United States took bronze in 12:59.05, while Kenyan, Nicholas Kimeli finished fourth in 12:59.17.
