7 More Kenyans Succumb To COVID-19 as Positivity Soars

Kenya has confirmed a total of 550 people, who have recently tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, from a sample size of 4,087 tested in the last 24 hours.

The figure now pushes Kenya’s positivity rate to 13.5%.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 197,959 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,097,101.

In terms of counties, Nairobi continues to be the worst affected with (394) cases. Kiambu recorded (38); Nakuru (33), Kilifi (24), UasinGishu (10), Murang’a (8), Kajiado (8), Machakos (7), Busia & Kakamega (4) each; Kitui (3), TaitaTaveta, Kirinyaga, Nandi & Narok (2) each; while Nyeri, Siaya, TharakaNithi, TransNzoia ElgeyoMarakwet, Makueni, Meru, Mombasa & HomaBay had (1) each.

786 patients have recovered with 738 from the Home-Based Isolation & Care program while 48 are from various health facilities.

Total recoveries now stand at 186,594 of whom 148,899 are from the Home Based Care & Isolation program, while 37,695 are from various health facilities.

7 patients have succumbed to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of July 2021.

This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 3,872.
