73 Percent Of Health Workers Vaccinated — CS Kagwe confirms

According to the Ministry of Health, 73% of health staff have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Out of the 208,418 health workers who were originally targeted, 152,469 administered the vaccine.

The vaccine was also confirmed to have been provided to 38% of the targeted teachers, or 126,322.

Since the start of a national vaccination drive in March, 66, 677 security personnel have administered the vaccine, according to the ministry.

The administration of the second dose, however, will be postponed, according to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, due to global supply problems brought about by India’s deteriorating coronavirus situation.

“As a result, the Ministry of Health has now revised the duration between the administration of the first dose and the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine from 8 to 12 weeks,” he said.

A total of 853,081 persons have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease countrywide. Of these 494,278 are aged 58 years and above, Health workers, 155,294, Teachers 131,905 while Security Officers 71,604.
