Fire at Nairobi ICD contained, no injuries

The Inland Contsiner Depot(ICD) owned by the Kenya Ports Authority caught fire this evening.
The port is manned by the Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) and other agencies of the Go ernment; including the police.


The fire originated from one of the leaders at the facility.
Luckily, all the staff had evacuated for the day, due to the ongoing curfew
No one was injured.


The was quickly contained by fire fighters from the County Government of Nairobi.
A Port and Railways police source confirmed the incident. However, he declined to be named since he is not authorised to speak to the press.
In other KPA facilities, a fire engine truck is always on standby incase of an Inferno.


KPA has been classified at a Covid 19 flare point and most of their staff are to undergo testing after CS Mutahi Kagwe clustered the KPA as a point of interest.

Activity at KPA has gone down as a result of a decline in imports owing to the pandemic.
