Senators Methu, Karungo Thang’wa Visit Oburu Odinga, Gifts Him 3 Sheep

Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa and Nyandarua Senator John Methu on Wednesday, October 29, paid a visit to Acting ODM Party Leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga at his home.

The visit comes in the wake of Oburu’s new leadership role following the passing of his younger brother, Raila Odinga, who led the ODM Party for decades.

Thang’wa noted that their main purpose was to show support and comfort to the veteran legislator as he transitions into his new responsibilities.

“Early this morning, Senator Methu and I paid a courtesy call to the ODM Party Leader and our colleague in the Senate, Sen. Oburu Odinga, at his home.

“We went to pay our respects and offer comfort, especially as he takes on the great responsibility of stepping into the late Raila Odinga’s shoes,” he said.

In their early morning visit, they carried with them three sheep as a gift to the acting ODM party leader.

Thang’wa further described the meeting as an opportunity for mentorship, saying that younger leaders continue to draw inspiration from Oburu’s wealth of experience.

“As young leaders, we had the privilege to learn from his deep wisdom, shared through his endless stories and real-life experiences,” he added.

Their visit comes days after a section of ODM party officials warned Gachagua against visiting Odinga’s family home in Bondo.

Gachagua had scheduled to visit Bondo for Wednesday, October 22, but cancelled at the last minute following a viral video of Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga “celebrating” Raila’s death.

Remarks by the Nyeri governor, a close ally of the former deputy president, attracted criticism from ODM leaders.

Speaking during the same press briefing, Kisumu Market Milimani MCA Seth Ochieng Kanga, popularly known as Adui Nyang, warned Gachagua against visiting Raila’s home, saying his presence would not be welcomed.
