Communications Authority of Kenya Revokes Licences of 29 Courier Firms

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has revoked the operating licences of 29 national courier and postal service providers after finding they failed to meet regulatory requirements under the Kenya Information and Communications Act. The decision, published in a Gazette Notice earlier this month, marks the latest enforcement action by the regulator in its ongoing efforts to tighten compliance in the communications and courier sector.

Under the notice dated January 6, 2026, the revocations take effect seven days after publication — meaning the affected companies will no longer be authorised to offer courier or postal services nationwide from mid‑January. Any resources held under those licences will revert to the Authority.

Among the affected firms are major names in the sector such as Two NK Holding Investment Group Limited (2NK) and Prestige Courier Services Limited, as well as other operators like Narok Shuttle Transport Services, Safari Luxury Shuttle, Global Link Courier and Parcels, and Hapa Courier Limited.

This is not the first crackdown by the Communications Authority. In June 2025, the regulator blacklisted and moved to revoke licences of 13 courier firms for similar non‑compliance with licensing conditions as required under the Kenya Information and Communications Act.

The latest revocation action appears to be part of a broader enforcement push by the CA to ensure all communications, postal, and courier services operate within the law and maintain standards of service, accountability, and financial transparency. Sector analysts say stricter compliance enforcement aims to weed out operators that fail to meet regulatory benchmarks or compromise service quality and safety.

With licences now revoked, the affected companies are barred from providing courier services. Customers and businesses who relied on these operators will need to seek alternatives, while the Authority’s enforcement may incentivise other firms to improve compliance to avoid similar action.

The CA has also opened a new round of applications for licences in both the postal/courier and network services sectors, indicating continued regulatory oversight and planned expansion of authorised service providers.
