Senator Sifuna accuses President Ruto of meddling in ODM as leaders trade claims at Linda Mwananchi rally in Nakuru

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has claimed the political cooperation between UDA and ODM collapsed on the day Albert Ojwang was killed, saying that is why there are efforts to remove him as the party’s Secretary General.

Speaking on Sunday in Nakuru during a Linda Mwananchi rally, Sifuna said that police officers traveled to Homa Bay after the parties signed a cooperation deal with President William Ruto, picked up a young man from his home, and later killed him in a Nairobi police cell.“As the SG who wrote that agreement, I said that was the day the contract ended,” Sifuna said, adding that those pushing for his ouster were unhappy because he “stood with Albert Ojwang”.

In an emotional appeal, the senator said development projects could not replace lives lost, arguing that Ojwang would not benefit from markets and other facilities built by the government.

Sifuna also accused President Ruto of intruding into ODM affairs, claiming the agreement required UDA to respect other parties in the arrangement.

He further dismissed government promises on fuel prices, likening them to “taking Ksh40 and giving back Ksh10” while expecting applause.

At the same rally, Siaya Governor James Orengo urged Kenyans to resist what he described as dictatorial leadership, saying the time to reject President Ruto was now and not in 2027.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino questioned the government on jobs, health care and education, saying they were everyday concerns for struggling citizens.

Babu also claimed the government promised a road from Rironi to Mau Summit would create jobs for youths, but alleged the work was being done by Chinese workers, including prisoners, instead of Kenyans.
