Busia Woman Representative and ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of her staff member, Frederick Odiwour, popularly known as “Papa,” who reportedly died after being shot by a police officer in Busia County.
In a statement shared on her official X account, Omanyo described the incident as heartbreaking and confirmed that she is personally following up on the matter to ensure justice is served.
“I have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of my staff member Frederick Odiwour (Papa),” she stated.

According to the legislator, Odiwour succumbed to injuries caused by a bullet allegedly fired by a police officer in Busia, under circumstances that are still under investigation.
“Papa succumbed to a bullet fired by a police officer in Busia. I am personally following up on the matter with the relevant authorities to ensure that circumstances surrounding this incident are addressed and justice is pursued,” Omanyo added.
Omanyo remembered Odiwour as a dedicated member of her team and extended her heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult period.
“To the family and friends of Papa, I extend my deepest condolences. May you find strength during this difficult time,” she said.
The shooting comes amid growing public concern over cases involving alleged police brutality and the use of excessive force by security officers in different parts of the country.
