Police shot and killed an armed robber after a scary shootout in Ruiru, Kiambu county.
The tragic struggle erupted minutes after patrol officers responded to a distress call from two victims who had been robbed of their goods and vehicle in Ruiru’s Kihunguro neighborhood.
The male victim and his girlfriend were robbed of three Samsung mobile phones, by a two-man gang at 3.40 a.m., before the criminals drove away with his new Toyota Allion.
As they fled, they fired numerous shots into the air to scare off good samaritans.
Police officers on patrol heard the shots and rushed to the area.

After minutes of relentless pursuit, the officers intercepted two suspicious men carrying a mysterious sack.
Upon being challenged to stop, one of the men brandished a mini Ceska and started firing at the officers.
In their defense, the officers shot the abandoned lone gunman.
A mini Ceska loaded with 7 live rounds, assorted motor vehicle parts stashed in the sack and a mobile phone were recovered at the scene.
Further search around Kihunguro’s Gorofa Chafu area led to the recovery of a vandalized Toyota Allion, the one earlier stolen from the victims.
