A multi-agency security squad coordinated by the Anti-Terrorism Police detained a man linked to terrorist operations on Tuesday.
Mohamed Abubakar Hussein, 29, was found in possession of 95 used Nokia (Kabambe) phones, according to police.
“He is being held in custody and will be collaborating with the investigation,” police said.
Kenyans have been informed that security has been tightened up across the country, with the public being encouraged to give information on any suspicious activities in their locations.
“We encourage members of the public to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.”
The arrest comes just days after President Uhuru Kenyatta met with senior internal security officials in the wake of a number of countries issuing terror alerts.
Terror alerts have been issued by some European nations to their residents living in Kenya.
