The resignation of former Devolution CAS Gideon Mung’aro has been welcomed in his home turf in Malindi.

Azimio la Umoja Supporters in the region said the move has now paved way for Mr Mung’aro to make his presence known and concentrate on how he will lead the county after he wins the seat.

The supporters who included local leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and other Azimio Affiliated parties said Mung’aro should just hit the ground so that they accomplish their mission of ensuring he is elected as the county boss.

They however appealed to Coast Development Authority Chairman Phillip Charo to resign immediately before the deadline ends so as to concentrate 0on his Malindi parliamentary seat bid.

Led by Mohamed Salim Popularly Dodo who is an Azimio supporter he said they are worried ODM could lose the Malindi parliamentary seat if Charo will not resign today.

Addressing a press conference in Malindi at breeze Point hotel on Wednesday he said they are happy to hear Mungaro has resigned and are confident that he would come and rescue Kilifi.

“We are worried about Philip Charo without him in the race Mungaro will have problems because it’s Charo who made people to move out of Jubilee to ODM and he is a man of the people,” he said.

The deadline for resigning is today at 12.00 am.

Salim urged ODM to tell Charo to resign so as to ensure Malindi wins the parliamentary seat or else they will lose.

For Mung’aro he said they have a guarantee that once elected Governor he is going to transform the county based on his track record since he was Mayor for Malindi, MP in Malindi and Kilifi north.

“Already the ground supports Mung’aro we are just waiting for him to hit the ground but our biggest concern is about Charo he must resign immediately,” he said.

Peter Mwangi the Organising Secretary for GEMA community in Kilifi county said Charo’s journey for Malindi parliamentary seat began way back over seven years ago during the by-election when all community wanted him to become the MP but failed because he was in the wrong party.

However, he said now that he was in ODM which was the favorite of the people based on the fact that ODM party leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta were now together it will be easy for him to win the seat.

“We are pleading with Phillip Charo to resign we depend on him as people of Malindi, if he resigns he will give us confidence as Azimio of winning the seat,” he said.

Aisha Kitabusha who is from Maweni in Malindi and a die-hard of Charo said Charo should make the decision to resign as he was the choice for Malindi.
