Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s announcement that former Transport Chief Administrative Secretary Wavinya Ndeti could run as the Machakos county’s sole gubernatorial candidate, has been met with harsh resistance.
Kalonzo said he will arrange meetings with former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita to persuade him to endorse Wanyinya’s candidacy.
“Mimi ninafuraha ya kuona team ya Wiper iko strong, muwaangalie vizuri. Hao wengi ni vijana wetu. Bwana Nzioka my friend, I will talk with him. Kwa sasa mnaona Wavinya ako sawa sawa,” he said.
Translated :I'm glad to see the Wiper team is strong, take a good look at them. Most of them are our youth. Mr Nzioka my friend, I will talk with him. At the moment you can see Wavinya is okay.
However, the endorsement was met with backlash by a section of the crowd, forcing the leader to switch his agenda and welcome Raila Odinga to speak.
The ODM leader however, steered clear of Machakos politics, instead outlining his manifesto.
