Three ladies were detained at Kagio Market in Kirinyaga County for allegedly stupefying and stealing from a Catholic nun.
According to Kirinyaga police chief Mathew Mang’ira, the three drugged the nun before driving away and dumping her near Kagio Catholic Church.
“The three women had parted away with Ksh.17,000 shillings belonging to the Catholic nun, who is in-charge of a local primary school in Mutithi Ward in Mwea. We have recovered the money,” Mang’ira said.
Members of the public rounded up the suspects before they were frog marched to Kagio Police Station for questioning.
“The nun was talking to the three women before her driver came searching for her. He however suspected that something was amiss since she had taken long to return to their vehicle,” witnesses said.
Sources indicate that the driver raised an alarm, with the local bodaboda operators responding in good time.
Kagio Parish Priest Jackson Wanjohi criticized the act, asking residents to pursue legal methods of earning a living.
