President William Ruto will attend the Kenya Defence Forces Day ceremony at Laikipia Airbase on Friday.
This will be his first military appearance since taking office on September 13, 2022.
As head of state, Ruto also serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces.
On October 14, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will also celebrate its 11th anniversary.
KDF Day is an annual military event held to honor the bravery and sacrifice of fallen heroes.
Since the launch of Operation Linda Nchi in October 2011, this special day has been observed.
As a prelude to KDF Day on Friday, KDF held a free medical camp at Likii Health Centre in Nanyuki on Wednesday.
KDF medics provided a wide range of medical services, including general outpatient care, Beyond Zero Cervical Cancer Screening, dental care, eye care, child welfare and nutrition, Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) services, and health promotion talks.
The Kahawa Garrison hosted the event last year.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta laid a wreath at the Heroes and Heroines Monument, followed by an inspection of the 7th Battalion Kenya Rifles’ Guard of Honour.
He also inaugurated a Communication and Information System Maintenance and Innovation Center, a Level IV 150-bed Nairobi Regional Hospital, and a Level III Armoured Personnel Carrier Repair Workshop.
