LSK Vows To Block Ruto’s 50 CAS Appointments

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) anticipates filing a petition in court seeking to stop the nomination of 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries.

LSK president Eric Theuri has said the move by President William Ruto to increase the slots from 23 to 50 is against the law.

According to Theuri, the head of the public service ‘applied’ for only 23 positions.

The creation of an extra 27 positions, he said, is illegal and invalidates the entire list.

“What the President did is breaking the law. We will be in court on Monday…when we were in court PSC said they wanted to create 23 positions under public participation and that was the maximum,” he said.

“We wonder why the President chose to nominate 50…this for us is politically motivated and not following the law.”

In October last year, LSK successfully obtained orders to stop the establishment of the office.
