The Government plans to construct 10 new markets in Nyandarua County this fiscal year, offering small traders improved facilities for their businesses.
President William Ruto emphasized the significance of a conducive environment for entrepreneurs, noting that it would boost earnings.
He inaugurated road projects in Shamata Town, highlighting the upgrade of over 400 kilometres of roads in Nyandarua County to benefit farmers and enhance economic growth.
“Upgraded infrastructure means better earnings, more jobs and enhanced growth for our country.”
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Governor Moses Badilisha, and MPs were also present. The President emphasized that the 50-kilometer road network would lower transportation costs and reduce post-harvest losses. He expressed the Government’s commitment to revitalizing agriculture, a historical economic foundation for Kenya, and announced plans to distribute more milk coolers to protect farmers from market fluctuations.
President Ruto underscored the reduction of taxes on animal feeds to lower production costs and prevent illegal milk imports.
“We must turn milk farming into a cool business. We will not allow a litre of the product to go below Sh50. We also commit to shield our farmers from illegal and unnecessary milk importation.”
He assured support for the youth’s economic opportunities and promised to bolster the dairy sector’s stability.
