Appeal court indicts Kenya Railways over SGR project

By Faith Mutete

The Court of Appeal has indicted Kenya Railways for abusing procurement guidelines during the SGR project.
A judgment issued by Appellate Judges Justice Martha Koome, Justice Gatembu Kairu and Justice J. Mohammed says the exemption of SGR from the provisions of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act was against the law.
The Judges cited Kenya Railways for abuse of office, a move that will lead to further sanctions against the officials of Kenya Railways.

Already, former Managing Director Athanas Maina is facing abuse of office charges over the same project. Heads may role further.
