Areas Where UDA Nominations Will Be Repeated

On Friday, the UDA National Elections Board directed that nominations be repeated in some areas of Kasarani and Kabete Constituencies.

Without giving reasons, UDA NEB chair Anthony Mwaura stated that the exercise will be repeated for party members at Mwiki Primary School, Mwiki Assistant Chief Camp, and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Mwiki Ward.

He added that voters registered at Kanyariri Secondary School in Gitaru ward and St. Mary’s Kaimba in Nyadhuna Ward of Kabete Constituency will cast their ballots again.

The party primaries in Mt Elgon, Malava, Likuyani, and Lugari were suspended to Saturday, April 16, owing to logistical challenges.

Turkana East, Turkana Central, and Bumula will vote on Tuesday, April 19, also due to logistical challenges.

Nominations in Narok Constituency and Nakuru West will also be conducted on Tuesday.

Nandi County party members will choose their UDA parliamentary aspirants on April 19. The exercise was postponed after a UDA aspirant succumbed to death in a road accident.

The UDA nominations began on Thursday with some areas having peaceful voting and others faced with chaos.

Mwaura challenged the party members to maintain peace and ensured that the activity will be fair.

He further warned any aspirants against causing violence, saying they will be disqualified from the exercise and either suspended or expelled from the party.
