Athletes Gear Up For KDF, Police Marathons

Both the Kenya Defence Forces and National Police Services are gearing for their respective cross country events Friday in Nairobi.

Whereas that of KDF will be held at the Moi Airbase in Eastleigh, that of police will be at Ngong Race Course in the city.

Police’s will be tenth edition while KDF’s will be 41th.

Officials say the event will among others help identify talent.

The Agnes Tirop Memorial World Cross Country Tour Gold, which will be place on February 12 in Kapseret, Eldoret, is Kenya’s and the world’s biggest cross country event.

The race is named after Agnes Tirop, the 2015 World Cross Country Champion, who was discovered killed at her house in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, in October.

The cross country tours are a series of one-day invitational races organized by World Athletics and classified as gold, silver, or bronze by World Athletics.

Similar tournaments will take place in Cardiff (Wales), Amorebieta-Extano (Spain), San Vittore Olona (Italy), Hannut (Belgium), Serradila (Spain), and Dundoland (Northern Ireland), among others.
