Azimio Leader Raila Odinga Expected In Nairobi CBD At 2 pm

Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga is expected in Nairobi Central Business District at 2 p.m.

The opposition leader is expected to lead anti-government protesters to State House.

Raila’s whereabouts remain unknown, despite reports that he will arrive in the CBD at 2 p.m.

The police responded to the protests, which began at 7 a.m., with tear gas, arrests, and rubber bullets.

By noon, several opposition leaders and supporters had been arrested in Nairobi.

One person was also shot after being mistaken for a protestor.

Raila has accused President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza coalition of rigging the 2022 general elections by manipulating the IEBC server.

He has also accused them of raising taxes and prices on basic commodities, appointing cronies to key positions, breaking promises, and running an illegitimate government.

Raila’s claims have been dismissed by President Ruto as baseless and divisive. He has urged Kenyans to disregard the protests and concentrate on development.

He has also defended his administration’s track record of combating corruption, creating jobs, and improving infrastructure.
