Azimio Leaders Tell Off Ruto Over Venezuelans Arrest

Kilifi County Woman Rep Getrude Mbeyu said the statement by the DP was a clear sign of cowardice.

Kilifi Azimio brigade led by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) gubernatorial candidate Gideon Minga’aro have told off, Deputy President William Ruto over his recent remark that the arrest of Venezuelans as a trick to postpone this year’s General election.

Instead the leaders speaking in different rallies in Bamba ward, Kilifi county said the DP should understand that Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga is the next President of this country.

The leaders also called on investigation agencies to investigate the DP over his recent statement concerning the arrest of the Venezuelans at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport in Nairobi.

The leaders have condemned the Kenya Kwanza principal for interfering with police and investigating agencies which they claimed need to do their business as free and independent bodies

“It is shameful for a national leader to poke his nose on the issues of national security. We are in a very crucial moment and any security lapse should be handled with care. So if our police go to an extra mile to make arrests and investigate, why is the DP furious about it,”  he said.

Mr Mung’aro wondered why DP Ruto who in his recent manifesto launch  said government agencies would be given freedom to handle their affairs would  condemning the same agencies for doing their work.

“Dr Ruto seems to be have been angered by the arrests of these people. Why should he do so then. It looks like he might have some information concerning them and as thus the security agencies needs to extend their investigation to him also,” he said.

Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire also condemned the DP saying his outburst  after the arrests of the Venezuelans will not in anyway affect the elections slated for next week.

Mr Mwambire said election can’t be postponed as purported by the DP Ruto and instead urged Kenyans to get prepared to vote for Mr Odinga next month.

“The DP is trying to sell fear to Kenyans after he discovered that he will be facing an early defeat from Mr Odinga. Police did their job as required by law and they should be left to carry on with their investigation. It will not in any way affect the incoming elections,” he said.

Kilifi County Woman Rep Getrude Mbeyu said the statement by the DP was a clear sign of cowardice.

“The DP  has sensed defeat and that is why he is coming with a lot of false allegations. Election will not be postponed and he must be ready to face Mr Odinga at the ballot. Again it’s Mr Odinga who will be the next President after Mr Kenyatta,” she said.

Kilifi’s youth leader and former Kenya Universities President Fikirini Jacobs called on  IEBC to conduct free fair and justifiable elections citing that the blood of Kenyans is on their hands.

“Mr Chebukati has a tendency of contradicting election process when elections are near but I want to tell him that this time, it will different and difficult for him,” he said.

Mr Fikirini wondered why IEBC and DP Ruto would always sound the same in  defence and urged IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to come clean if Ruto had eventually became their spokesperson and protector number one.
