Azimio Praises Court For CAS Ruling

Azimio leaders have applauded the High Court decision declaring the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) unconstitutional.

At a rally in Siaya on Monday, opposition leaders said the decision was timely because it reduces the wage bill and saves Kenyans money.

Opiyo Wandayi, Minority Leader and MP for Ugunja Constituency said President Ruto was inconsiderate in appointing 50 CAS at a time when the country was facing economic difficulties.

The leaders vowed to hold the government accountable in order to protect Kenyans from irrational political decisions.

“Ruto, you have taken your people all those who were deafened in elections, those who were left behind during elections and you have made them assistant ministers,” Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga said. “Ruto, what’s the matter with you?”

MPs who support Azimio have vowed to oppose the Salaries and Remuneration Commission’s proposal to raise civil servants’ pay.

Raila Odinga, the Azimio chief, rallied Kenyans to attend the saba saba protests on Friday, urging Kenyans to exercise their mandate in accordance with Chapter One of the Constitution.

“Kenya mzima watajitokeza na kusema kwamba enough is enough punda amechoka, punda amechoka sasa watu wote watajitokeza,” said Odinga.
