Basketball legend Kobe Bryant is dead.
According to a report by the entertainment site, TMZ, Kobe was among five people that were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas on Sunday.
The LA County Sheriffs Department has commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.
The sheriff’s department, however, has also not confirmed who was among the deceased.
The decorated player was known to travel in his Sikorsky S-76 chopper to and from basketball games, US Media say.
The Federal Aviation Administration identified the helicopter as a Sikorsky S-76, which Bryant owned. It crashed under “unknown circumstances.”
Kobe Bryant was 41 years old.
Basketball fans, ballplayers and celebrities took to social media to express their condolences to those who loved Kobe.
