BY FAITH MUTETE – Yesterday as the World commemorated the World Suicide Prevention Day Kabiangek Primary School in Konoin Constituency, Bomet , were left in utter shock after one of their fellow students was found hanging on a tree.
It is alleged that the girl committed suicide after being scolded and mocked for soiling her dress with her menses in class.
Beatrice Chepkurui, her mother claims that after the incident in class her daughter left the school and returned home where her mother told her to go and fetch water to clean herself then head back to school.
She later found her hanging on a tree in their tree farm, and her mom said she did this because of how embarrassed she felt after being mocked.
Parent from the school accompanied by Beatrice, later on, went after the school protesting and accusing the management of not protecting the students and wanted the female teacher arrested for being responsible for the girl’s death.
