City car dealer Khalif Kairo has been released on a cash bail of Ksh 2M in cases he is accused of defrauding his clients over Ksh 5 million pretending he would facilitate purchasing motor vehicles for them.
In granting him bail, Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina said that the nature of the charge against Khalif Kairo is a misdemeanor hence he is unable to see any reason why he should be denied bond.
The Magistrate said that he was not convinced that Kairo is a flight risk.
For each of the charges the court granted him a cash bail of Ksh 1 million with an alternative bond of Ksh 1M in count two.
According to the prosecution, Khalif Kairo on diverse dates between July 29, 2024, and November 16, 2024, at unknown location within Nairobi, by means of fraudulent means induced Dona Ayalo Okoth to transfer Ksh 2,984,998 into his account by falsely pretending that he would purchase him a motor vehicle Subaru outback.
In another charge, Kairo is accused of fraudulently tricking Jeff Kyule Munane to transfer Ksh 2,145,150 into his account by falsely pretending he would facilitate importation of a motor vehicle make Honda Vezel Hybrid from Japan which he never delivered.
Khalif Kairo appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at Milimani Law Courts where he denied all the charges.
