A man has been arraigned in court over an alleged attempt to scam an unsuspecting car buyer.
Mr Onyango Neville was presented before Milimani Law Courts before Hon. Micheni, Wendy CM.
He is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to section 393 of the Penal Code.
According to court documents, Neville Onyango on diverse dates between 1st November 2020 and 24th February 2021, conspired with another person yet to be apprehended to fraud Isaac Sambule Muchaji.
The accused person is said to have stolen Ksh 3 million during the process of buying a Car.
The court was told how, Neville, and his alleged accomplice often, rent temporary offices in town where they conduct their business.
The offices are usually well furnished and the sellers well dressed to give an impression of well to do individuals. Keen to make a saving, the unsuspecting potential buyers will inevitably fall into the trap of fake owners.
The thriving business is attributed to the gullible nature of Kenyans who hardly take time to check the validity of the documents they are given by the so-called sellers.
However, for some victims, it is difficult to resist the silver tongue of these con artists.
The suspect has been released on a 500,000 bond, with no option of a cash bail.
