Cases top 700, as Kenya marks 2 months of Covid-19 pandemic

Kenya has recorded a total of 700 Coronavirus positive cases in two months since the first case was reported – By Prudence Wanza.

The Ministry of Health has gradually continued to assure Kenyans of its capacity to increase testing and has so far carried out 25,000 tests. Today 25 new cases were reported with a number of them coming from truck drivers at border points.

The new cases were spread across 4 counties with Mombasa having the highest number. Mombasa had 10 cases reported in Mvita, Changamwe, Kisauni, Nyali, and Likoni.

9 cases were also reported in Kajiado County and the Ministry of Health has stated that the cases came from Tanzanian truck drivers tested at the boarder point.

In Nairobi the new cases were spread across Kenyatta National Hospital, Embakasi, Kibra and Pumwani.

Wajir County has recorded 2 cases.

Health CAS Rashid Aman has also announced 12 more people have been discharged raising the total number of recoveries to 251.

1 more person has succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 33.

Aman has called upon communities at border points to report people crossing into the country to avoid importation of the disease from other areas.
