A Catholic priest has strongly condemned the violence witnessed in Parliament during the divisive Political Parties bill debate.
Speaking during a Sunday mass service at the Holy Family Basilica, Rev. Fr. Peter Kamomoe said violence in any form should be condemned as it is a sign of an immoral society.
“We could see our Honourable members of parliament whom we chose, fight in parliament and yet we still ask ourselves why our society is rotten. Why our children are burning schools.”
He went on to add that leaders should be at the forefront in ensuring national values and peace are upheld.
“Elect leaders who are born again. Leaders who fear God and are willing ensure that specific values we hold dear, are respected. the rest of the communities will follow suit.”
Rev. Fr. Peter Kamomoe urged leaders to submit themselves to church guidance and seek God in helping them fulfil their mandate to people.
The divisive bill in parliament resulted in injuries as MPs traded blows and water bottles on the floor of the Parliament.
