Chief Justice Candidate Prof. Kameri Lands UN Job

Prof Patricia Kameri-Mbote, who had unsuccessfully applied for the position of Chief Justice, has been appointed as Director of the Law Division at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Chief Justice Martha Koome delivered the news through her Twitter account.

“Kenya and indeed the world will benefit from your immense experience and proven abilities demonstrated in your vast career. I am very proud of you for this most deserved appointment. May God guide you and shine His light upon you always.”

Prof. Patricia Kameri-Mbote, a law professor, has been named director of the UN Environment Programme’s law section (UNEP).

Professor of Law at the University of Nairobi’s School of Law, the famous and inventive thinker unsuccessfully ran for the office of Chief Justice of Kenya.

Her work has been so outstanding that the National Assembly’s Joint Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs appointed her as one of its consultants to advise them on how to proceed with the Constitution of Kenya(Amendment) Bill, 2020.
