According to the China-Africa, Economic and Trade Relationship Annual Report (2021), 25 Chinese economic and trade cooperation zones have been formed in 16 African countries.
The research was released ahead of the Second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, which will take place in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province in central China, from September 26 to 29.
By the end of 2020, the cooperation zones, which were registered with China’s Ministry of Commerce, had attracted 623 businesses, totaling $7.35 billion in investment.

According to the research, these businesses have created approximately 46,000 jobs in the host countries.
China’s international economic and trade cooperation zones aid local industrialization in a variety of industries, including resource exploitation, agriculture, industry, commerce, and logistics.
