Clinical Officers call off Strike After 70 Days

The Kenyan Union of clinical officers has suspended the ongoing nationwide clinical officer’s strike. While addressing the media on Tuesday afternoon, the national chairman, Peterson Wachira, said that the union received court orders to suspend the strike. – By Sharon Maina.

“We received court orders dated February 22, 2021 to suspend the ongoing clinical officer’s strike,” said Wachira

The court orders were issued by Lady Justice Maureen Onyango of the high court.

“In relation to the court orders given to us, we wish to comply with the court orders and resume our duties in the condition that our working environments will be made safe by being supplied with the required protective gear,” added Wachira.

The court also ordered counties not to punish health workers for engaging in the industrial strike.

Lady Justice Maureen also directed employers to pay salaries of health workers and ensure all union dues and all other third party to continue being remitted.
