Concern over infants with COVID-19, as Kenya cases near 27,000

The Ministry of Health has once again sounded an alaerm over the rising cases of the coronavirus infecting children as young as 4 months.

In his recent update, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed that among the youngest infected cases in the last 24 hours, is an 11 month old infant.

Kagwe insisted on new mothers to minimize visits to avoid spreading the virus to children.

Kenya has so far confirmed 26,928 cases of the coronavirus. Out of the cases 488 Kenyans while 14 were foreigners.

The cases are distributed across the country were: Nairobi (357), Garissa (52), Kiambu (37), Kajiado (14), Busia (5), and Baringo (5).

534 more recoveries were reported, pushing the total number of recoveries to 13,485. Out of these, only 56 were from hospitals across the country.

However, three more succumbed to the virus, pushing the total number of fatalities in the country to 423.
