County gives Sh600 million to Bukhungu Stadium Phase 2 construction


Kakamega County Sports Executive, Robert Makhanu has said that the construction of the second phase of Bukhungu Stadium will cost Sh600 million.

The construction of the first phase cost Sh433 million. The expansion of the amphitheater is projected to increase the capacity to 25,000 seats.


“Phase two of the project will include construction of modern shelter stands to accommodate large crowds. The second phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2020,” said Robert.


The Arena is expected to have a banking facility, Recreation Park, health center, an indoor fitness center, conference facilities and media center.


The expansion will also include building of terraces and construction of a modern swimming pool as well as installation of lifts at the facility. The facility currently serves as the home ground for Kakamega Home Boyz FC.


The stadium will operate normally however the subjected areas will remain closed for the public.
