Why FKF Election Petition was postponed

The sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT), postponed the hearing and determination of a petition before it involving Football Kenya Federation versus the sports Registrar, Rose Wasike.

This was occasioned by request by the Football Kenya Federation to be allowed time to familiarize and respond to the many affidavits sworn and filed by different stakeholders who were enjoined in the petition.


The enjoined parties include Bondeni fc and Cheptiret FC Clubs from Uasin Gishu County.

Twaha Mbarak and Goshi ally from Mombasa, claim that over 100 active football clubs have been denied a right to participate in the elections.


“We hope to have this case heard and thereafter we will be allowed to contest,” Mbarak said on Wednesday.


On the other side, the FKF Electoral Board was busy receiving nomination papers from aspirants at the County level.

The board did finalize with counties yesterday and expects to receive papers from National Executive Committee (NEC) and presidential aspirants on Friday and Saturday.


The board chairperson Kentice Tikolo expressed satisfaction with the turnout of aspirants from different counties, reiterating their intention to hold free and fair elections.


“It is encouraging (that) several aspirants, most of them youthful are interested in holding football positions. The turnout is better compared to last time (during the county elections in November),” she explained.


“It means (they trust the exercise and I urge more of them to come forward and we will do our best to conduct free and fair elections. There have been reports suggesting we are turning away people and there will be no elections. That is not true,” she added, as seen from the FKF Facebook page.


The elections are due in early march starting at county then National elections before 5th. This is in adherence to FIFA demands as the term of the current office has expired.


All eyes will be at the SDT on 25th March when the petition will be heard.
