Milimani Law Courts have issued a warrant of arrest against gospel musician Alex Apoko, popularly known as Ringtone, after he failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing.
Ringtone is facing charges of conspiracy to defraud a woman of a parcel of land valued at Ksh 50 million.
During the court session, his lawyer submitted medical documents indicating that the artist was suffering from a respiratory infection and chest pain, and is currently admitted to a Nairobi hospital.
The medical report further stated that his hospitalization was necessary to avoid exposure to extreme cold, which could worsen his condition.
Despite the explanation, Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego issued the arrest warrant.
The court is set to hear testimony from seven witnesses, including the complainant, Teresia Adhiambo.
