CS Kagwe to announce tougher restrictions, as Kenya’s toll hits 535

Kenya’s coronavirus cases has recorded a staggering 45 new cases, raising Kenya’s toll to 535 cases – By Gerald Gekara

“We have the highest number today and that shows how serious this pandemic is in our country…. We have 45 confirmed cases from tests conducted in the last 24 hours.” said Mutahi Kagwe, Health Cabinet Secretary.

While attributing the importance of maintaining regulations in the community and the mass testing, the Health CS confirmed that 29 of the cases were from Eastleigh.

“That tells you that there is community spreading happening in those areas. We are in the process of consultations with the respective authorities in those counties so that we can determine what action we are going to take,”

9 people had been discharged from containment centers, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 182.

Kagwe hinted the tightening of regulations, owing to the fact that life seems to be going back to normal, amid the rising cases of the virus.

Hoteliers and traders who have re-opened businesses have been urged to strictly follow guidelines from the government, to combat the spread of the virus.
