CS Matiang’i — Curfew Measures To Run Till 29th March

The Interior Ministry has announced that the new measures to curb COVID-19 spread in Kenya will run until 29th March 2021.

In a gazette notice sent to newsrooms, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i said the measures including the dusk to dawn curfew will be reviewed as per health directives.

The 8pm to 4am curfew within 5 counties, christened the One-Zoned Area including; Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Machakos, and Nakuru will remain in effect until the 29th March.

The rest of the counties will continue upholding a 10pm to 4am curfew as per the president’s directive.

Public gatherings have also been banned until further notice.

“There shall be no public gatherings, processions or movement either alone or as a group during the period of the curfew except as shall be permitted, in writing, by a police officer in charge of the police in a county or a police officer in charge of the police in a division/sub-county.” the statement read.

The list of essential service providers was also reviewed after cries by critical service operators.

Kenya’s positivity rate remains at 15 percent out of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended 5 percent.
