CS Matiang’i Launches Crackdown To Tame Illicit Brew

A crackdown is set to be launched to smoke out drug barons and sellers of illicit brews in the country.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i is today set to meet regional and county commissioners for a discussion on the planned exercise in the country.

Thereafter, he will launch a Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) that will see a multi-agency security team target drug peddlers and sellers of illicit brew.

The team comprises officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the National Police service, local administrators, and the National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drugs Abuse (Nacada).

Use of alcohol and drugs has been a menace in the country despite efforts by the state to address the same.

In Nakuru county, several people died after consuming illicit brew, sparking outrage by locals.
