Police Commander Arrested In Connection With City Robbery

A Police Commander has been arrested over links to a robbery with violence incident.

Inspector Evans Soita of the Kabete Patrol base was arrested yesterday morning.

His accomplices, Constable James Kemboi was also arrested.

Inspector Soita and Constable James Kemboi were arrested after attempting to rob Kamotho Kinyanjui of an unspecified amount of money.

DCI officers in Kabete are investigating the incident.

The duo were armed with a Jericho and Ceska Pistols respectively, their official issue weapons.

According to police records, the crime was committed at Kiko Dagoreti near Nyangara committed by two officers who were armed with pistols and a pocket phone.

They attempted to rob one Stephen Kamotho Kinyanjui whom they had handcuffed but he resisted and shouted for help, where members of the public intervened and rescued him.

The two officers fled leaving behind the pocket and it was collected by officers from Kikuyu police station who had responded to the distress.

They were later identified as no. 238567 IP Evans Soita of Spring valley police station (I/c lower Kabete patrol base) who had been issued with the pocket phone, armed with Jericho pistol s/no 443333637 loaded with 15 rds of 9mm ammunition and no.98264 Pc John Kemboi armed with Ceska pistol s no. 5106 loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, attached to spiv spring valley police station.

They have been placed at Gigiri police station awaiting collection by Dci Kikuyu.
