Agriculture and Livestock CS Peter Munya has shelved his ambitions to vie for Meru gubernatorial seat.

In a press briefing at his office, Munya said he was reflecting on the decision and chose to sit out the 2022 elective post.

“Najua kumekuwa na maswali mengi kunihusu
I have been reflecting on my political journey and the current political situation. I have come to a conclusion at this point is that I will not be running for the governor of Meru County.”

However, contrary to alleged wrangles within the Party of National Unity, (PNU) CS Munya added that he has maintained grip and will steer the party towards Azimio.

“I will play national role in the party PNU and continue strengthening the relationship with jubilee under Azimio.”

Munya added that he has unfinished business in serving farmers and addressing their plight.

“I want to use my time to continue serving the farming community in the ministry under president Kenyatta” he said.

The CS has been pushing for Azimio la Umoja all throughout the country.

He had been recommended as one of Raila Odinga’s running mates in the presidential election.
