Curfew : How SGR changed its train operations

On 26th March, Kenya Railways Corporation suspended a section of the Madaraka Express passenger train service.

In a communique to the public, the state authority announced that it had suspended Express passenger train services from Nairobi to Mombasa, Nairobi – Suswa, Ngong – Nairobi routes.

In what appears to be a correction in an earlier post, the Kenya Railways then released further reports claiming that Intercounty train operations will remain in service.

” We wish to confirm that we will be running the Madaraka Express Inter-county Trains which will be departing from Mombasa and Nairobi simultaneously at 10:30 am. ” said Kenya Railways.

The Madaraka Express passenger train service operates an express train operation, as well as an intercounty train.

The Express train plies the Mombasa – Nairobi – Suswa route while the intercounty train makes several stopovers at Athi River, Mtito Andei, Voi, Mariakani, Emali, and Kibwezi to pick up and drop off passengers while on the way to either Nairobi or Mombasa.
