DCI Director Flags Off IAU Induction Training at National Police Leadership Academy

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr. Mohamed I. Amin, today officiated the launch of an induction training programme for newly deployed officers to the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) at the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA). Mr. Amin represented the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, during the event.

In his address, Mr. Amin praised the training, conducted in collaboration with the International Justice Mission (IJM), as a critical step toward shaping a more accountable, professional, and citizen-focused National Police Service. He urged the IAU officers to embrace integrity, professionalism, and selfless service in order to restore and maintain public trust and uphold the highest standards of institutional accountability.

Mr. Vincent Chahale, IJM’s Country Director, reiterated the organization’s commitment to partnering with the police in fostering justice and institutional reform. He reminded officers that their conduct directly influences public confidence and the legitimacy of law enforcement in Kenya.

The comprehensive training will cover key areas including police oversight, adherence to human rights, anti-corruption measures, and internal accountability systems, core to reinforcing integrity, the rule of law, and ethical policing.

Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Boniface Maingi, IAU Director; Mr. Kainga Mathiu, NPLA Commandant; Dr. David Muthondeki, Deputy Commandant; Ms. Sicily Gatiti, Dean of Studies; and other senior officers from the National Police Service.
