Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced plans to devolve the military across the country to address security threats.
The CS stated before the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence, and Foreign Relations that the move would allow officers to respond quickly to any emerging security concerns.
As a result, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) issued a statement indicating that the plans were advanced and would be revealed in due course.
However, specific counties set to be the first beneficiaries were not revealed.
The CS also stated that the government was working to improve military technology in order to deal with situations similar to the North Rift operation.
“We continue to rebuild capacity to respond to human security challenges, strengthen military industrialisation and innovation capacity, and expand training facilities.”
