Gachagua Urges Ruto To Retire Raila Politics

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stated that the only discussion the Ruto administration can have with opposition leader Raila Odinga is his exit and retirement from politics.

Gachagua stated during an Interdenominational church service at Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok County that Odinga was pushing for the opportunity to meet with President Ruto to discuss getting accommodated into the government, but that was unlikely to happen.

DP Gachagua urged President Ruto to steer clear from the idea of having a political handshake with the Azimio boss and that he should strictly focus on running his government.

He urged his boss to be firm on denying Raila a handshake, assuring him of his full support if he chooses to heed to his recommendation.

“Do not accept to have a handshake with him, but if you meet with him because he is a Kenyan citizen, you should have only one discussion, to discuss his exit from politics and permanent retirement from the politics of Kenya. That you have our support,’ said Gachagua.

The second-in-command further claimed that Raila’s interest is in forcing the government to have a handshake with him, urging him to stick to his role of keeping the government in check.

“This old man’s father (Oginga Odinga) unnerved Kenyatta, he (Raila) then came and approached Uhuru and put him in a ditch. There will be no handshake, so he should continue to be there (in opposition) and perform oversight,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua made this statement while delegating control of Odinga to other junior members of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“I appreciate Kimani Ichung’wa and Ndindi Nyoro taking the lead in dealing with the senior citizen; now, let run the government alongside the president and Musalia Mudavadi,” he added.
