BY PRUDENCE WANZA – The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) task force has finalized its report on the recommendations and various changes to be done in the country, despite constant attacks by a section of politicians who have been opposing the initiatives.

The initiative was formed after a handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Rails Odinga on March 9,2018 following the heated 2017 general elections.

The team chaired by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji , announced that its report was ready yesterday and is waiting for handing over to President Uhuru Kenyatta when he returns in the country.

The taskforce has made recommendations on various issues including divisive elections, corruption, inclusivity and devolution.

Though the contents of the report are not yet known, there are proposed changes in law either through the Parliament or a total constitutional review to address challenges facing the country.

In a statement by joint secretaries Mr Paul Mwangi and Amb.Martin Kimani the initiative has already communicated to the office of the President that the report is ready and will be handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta at the earliest time possible.

However, there has been opposition of the BBI report by a section of political leaders claiming that the recommendations are based on selfish political gains and they will only support it if is meant to improve the lives of Kenyans.

It is speculated that the report is based on providing remedies and making positive changes on issues ailing the country and Kenyans in general.
