Embattled Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi released, DCI confiscates passports and his phones

BY PRUDENCE WANZA – Dennis Itumbi has been released on a cash bail of Sh.100,000. Itumbi has also been ordered to report to the DCI 2 days a week excluding weekends. He has also been ordered to deposit his passport in court.

Itumbi had appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Zainab Abdul who had ruled that he be detained for five days to conclude investigations concerning a letter that stated there are plans to assassinate the Deputy President.

However the DPP stated in court that they needed nine more days with reasons that mobile phones belonging to Itumbi were taken for forensic examination and report was not yet ready.

The Magistrates ruled that their application to hold him for nine more days lacked merit and investigations can still go on even when the respondent is not in custody.

The court has also ordered Itumbi not to not post anything on social media pertaining the case.

The case will be mentioned on 22/7/2019
