Fuel Prices Soar to Historic High

Fuel Prices have increased by Ksh. 5.00 in the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) review for the months of May-June 2022

According to the latest price review, Petrol will be retailing for 150.12 in Nairobi, and the highest at 160. in Elwak.

Diesel will retail at Ksh. 131 while Kerosene will retail at 118.94.

EPRA cited an increase in the cost  of imported Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene.

However, the fuel subsidy has played the crucial role of stablizing prices that would otherwise have retailed at Ksh. 172 per liter.

The increase in fuel costs could see an increase in cost of production, which will translate to higher costs of food and commodities.

Currently the price of basic comodities has seen a 30percent increase in cost.
